HAPPY 8 MONTHS CAEL

Dear Cael,

How is it that you are growing SO fast??? I say this every month but it’s so true. These last moments are bittersweet.  There are days where I still can’t believe you are here. How did we get so lucky to have you as part of our family? You are such a happy baby! Whenever you cry at the top of your lungs I know that something is bothering you because that’s not like you. I remember hearing first time moms saying,” I don’t remember what life was like before we had a baby.” I remember thinking “How can you not remember?” I just want to add that we had fun when it was just Daddy, Novi and I. But since you are here it’s even better!! You bring so much joy to our lives. Boy are we learning each day what it is to be good parents. I am two days late for your 8 month (you actually turned 8 months Saturday), but two days won’t hurt. Yesterday was my first Mother’s Day!! It was an awesome day. Last year for Mother’s Day I was pregnant and I remember thinking next year this time we will be celebrating Mother’s Day together. I am so proud of you and can’t wait to see the path that God has for you! You are changing each day. Here are a few milestones:

  • You can sit up. You started siting up towards the end of 7 months, but the past few weeks you sit up for longer period of times.
  • You are pulling yourself up. Sometimes when you are sitting and I am in front of you, you will grab my shirt and pull yourself up. Or when you are lying down you try to get up by yourself and pull up. You are so strong!!
  • I am starting to see your little personality.
  • The past couple of weeks you don’t want to be carried, you rather be on the ground walking. Even though you don’t know how to walk, but you like walking when someone is holding your hands.
  • You can’t crawl yet, but you’ll get there when you are ready. Some of us think that maybe you will skip crawling and go straight to walking. We shall see…
  • The other day Papi had you holding and standing on the coffee table and you stood for a while by yourself. When you felt yourself  falling you grabbed the coffee table and moved your feet so you wouldn’t fall.
  • You have two little baby curls side burns. It’s so cute. I call you my little Rabi.
  • I love hearing your baby talk. Sometimes when you wake up, we hear you talking to yourself in the crib. It’s so cute! And than there are days when you wake up crying:(
  • You no longer like to be in your carseat. I have graduated you from putting you in the stroller without you being in the car seat.
  • The other day we went out to eat and instead of brining you in your carseat we put you in a high chair. I don’t know if we are ready for that because you were grabbing everything in sight. Whenever we took something away from you, it made you a little upset. So we put you back in the carseat.
  • Whenever we are eating something you look at us and began to move your lips like you are tasting it.
  • You have a very good appetite.
  • You are so heavy!
  • You have gone from a size 3 in diapers to a size 4. Is that even possible?? I hate to see what size of diapers you’ll be in when you turn 1.
  • No teeth yet, but you sure are drooling like a mad man.
  • You love being in your walker.
  • You have now entered baby on the move stage. Even though you are not walking you use your walker to get everything. A few Sundays ago Papi and I heard something fall.  You pulled the table runner from the dining room table and pulled the vase from the table to the floor. As soon as you saw Papi you ran the other way as if you didn’t do anything. You also started pulling my kitchen towels from the oven and taking out my glade plug ins from the wall.
  • You love to put the soap suds in your both when taking a bath.
  • Novi is your best friend!
  • You love our iPhones.
  • You are wearing 9 month clothing. I am pretty sure you will be in 12 months soon!

Can’t wait to see what milestones you will have at 9 months!!

You are still doing the swimming pose and crossing your fingers.

Last week, I put you in the swing so that you could drink your bottle while I worked on some emails. When I was done I looked over at you and this is what I see. You grabbed the side of the swing and pulled yourself up. You smiled at me and was like, Are you done yet? It was funny!! Good thing I had my camera right beside me.

Love Always,
Mami

CELEBRATING THE FIRST YEAR: DANIEL AND VERONICA

It’s been one year since these two tied the knot! I still can’t believe Daniel and Veronica have been married for one year. I was the pregnant bridesmaid. I was honored to be standing up at the alter with my swollen feet  in heels. I remember it like it was yesterday. And now I have a soon to be 8 month old. Dear Lord, where is the time going??? Ok, enough about me and back to Daniel and Veronica.

I love the thought of celebrating your one year anniversary, especially with pictures!!! These two just bought their first home and I couldn’t be more happier for them. I can’t wait to see them grow deeper as the years pass. Marriage takes a lot of hard work, it’s not easy and there are times where you both feel like your hitting a wall. But that’s the beautiful things about marriage, hard work and investing in each other is SO worth it! I asked Daniel and Veronica if they would share some tips on what they’ve learned through the first year of marriage. And this is what they had to say:

Our top five tips for the first year of marriage:

  •     Nurture your marriage and continue to date each other often.
  •   Speak your spouse’s love language fluently, if you don’t already know it, learn about.
  •    Expect the unexpected, as you will learn more about each other every day.
  •     Never compare your relationship with others; each marriage is unique in its own way.
  •  Enjoy the ride because it’s a lifetime commitment so make the best of every moment…remember that marriage is a journey and not a destination.

Because they just bought their new house, it was only fitting that we snapped a few shots at their new home.

We initially scheduled to have their session on Monday (their official anniversary day), but due to the weather we had to post pone it to Tuesday. To be honest I thought we were going to have to re-schedule their session again due to the weather. But mother nature proved me wrong!! It was a beautiful day and I just love the lighting in all of these images!

How cute is this? They saved the top tier of their wedding cake and decided to use it for their shoot! I love this idea.

How cute are they??

Thank you both for your time and having me help you relive your first year of marriage. This is just the beginning!! Hold tight and enjoy the ride!!

WEDDING DAY TIMELINES

Scheduling is very important when planning a wedding. Allocating enough time for photos is very important! When I first started photography I had no idea of how I need to schedule pictures. The more weddings I photographed the better I became at schedules. I often offer to make the Wedding Day Timeline or offer to review it for my brides. I want to ensure we capture enough pictures of their wedding day! I would hate for my couples to look back at the pictures and not remember their day. It’s up to me as the photographer that I help them relive their Wedding Day as they look at their images.

I inform my couples of the option of having a first look. A first look is an intimate moment between the bride and groom before the wedding, YES I JUST SAID BEFORE. They are not surrounded by guests or people asking them a billion questions. It’s a quiet moment for them to breath and soothe each other before saying yes. This is the only time that most couples get any alone time  on their BIG day (besides having the photographer and videographer there). I love being part of first looks. It’s so intimate and the images come out so raw. The couple isn’t focused on the videographer or photographer they are focused on each other. With first looks couples can complete all their pictures before the wedding so that way they can enjoy their guests and mingle during cocktail hour. I make sure my couples get enough bride and groom portraits. When a couple opts to have a first look we do their portrait pictures before the ceremony and during the reception before the sun sets. This gives the couple a little bit of a break when getting their pictures taken. It’s hard work having a camera follow you around all day:)

Below is a timeline of a typical wedding day. This timeline is not set in stone and can be easily adjusted. There are many factors that go into creating a timeline. Like what if the ceremony location is at a different venue than the reception, what if the couple has a large bridal party, what if the couple does not have a first look, etc… This is just an idea to guide you when you are making your timeline.

1 Hour – Getting ready shots (Bride getting hair and make up done.) Some brides rather have me start photographing once their hair and make up is already done. I photograph wedding dress, shoes, earrings, necklaces, anything of sentimental value to the bride.  At this time my second shooter is with the groom getting shots of him getting ready.

30 mins – Bride getting into her dress.

15 mins – Prepare the groom for the first  look. And get some some groom portraits.

45 mins – First look along with Bride and Groom portraits.

30-45 mins – Bridal Party Pictures.

*If the couple does not opt for a first look then Bride and Groom pictures and Bridal Party pictures get done before the ceremony.

Ceremony Time

30 mins – Family pictures. Sometimes Family pictures get done before the ceremony.

Cocktail Hour

20 mins – Décor Pictures of the reception.

Reception

15-20 mins – Additional portraits of the bride and groom as a married couple. This is factored in so many ways. I like to take these pictures during sun set, when the light is golden and soft.

Again, this timeline is just an example. Unexpected things happen on a wedding day and not all weddings are the same. This timeline might not work for all brides, but at least it’s a guide to create one that works for you. Hope this helps!!
